SteinThis year let’s start with a blank slate. Let’s not drop into the same automated routine we’ve always run through. Let’s forget what we think we know and start from scratch.

What if we knew nothing?

Let go of being pretentious. Let go of the assumption that you know what’s right and how to do it. What if you’re wrong?

I know that I know nothing.
Socrates

GrasIt’s our automated thoughts, beliefs and actions that keep us stuck in the same patterns, the same routines, the same procedures. As humans we avoid change. We find comfort in the familiar. Knowing gives us a sense of security and control. Yet, by knowing and expecting things to be how we know them we often block ourselves from new experiences and positive change.

So why not try something different?

Instead listen and observe. Be attentive, be open, be willing to have a completely new experience. The first step to un-knowing what you think you know is creating awareness. Seeing everything there is to see. Feeling everything there is to feel. Shake up the routing and just see what unfolds.

ÄsteWhen you plan out your year, allow some not-planning. Allow some room for magic. Yes, I know it’s hard. I’m a thinker and planner, too. It’s hard to let go and rest in the not-knowing, not-planning, not-thinking. But only by letting go can we create a new perspective and let the magic happen. Just wait and see. Just wait. And you’ll see.
