Most concepts are not black or white. One could even say that no concepts are black or white. The path always runs along a balance between two extremes. So ‘receive the world’ is only one side of the coin, but it’s an important side. One that we may have to consider more to create a balance.
Usually our actions are directed outwards, forwards. Just consider our bodies: Our face, our eyes, mouth, nose, our chest are all directed forwards. This is where we look and from your center we’re directed towards what is in front of us. We walk forward, we direct our hands forward – usually.
Rarely do we take the time to receive. To let our closed eyes rest back into our head, to keep the hands close to our body, to let the front of our body rest into the back of our body.
Translate this concept into your everyday life. In life we get focused on goals, on outside events and direct ourselves towards them. We think about the future, we think about our next step forward, we think about the coming week.
But how often do you sit back, rest in the now and welcome the world in? How often do you make time so things can just… happen? Being too focused on a goal can keep you from seeing an alternative route that life offers. When the world makes a move towards you, are you ready to receive?
It’s just one side of the coin, but it’s an important one. While life requires that we meet it with action, sometimes it also requires that we rest and receive. Fate offers interesting twists and developments if we’re ready to see them. Find the balance between acting forward and receiving inwards – you may be surprised.
